MKCA Easter 2008 Invite

Chicago, February 17, 2008: MKCA, USA cordially invites you along with your family and friends to a “Blessed Easter Celebrations” starting with Holy Mass in Konkani with blessing of water and fire followed by sumptuous dinner and dance on March 22nd, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. the Courtland Square Club House, 8909 David Place, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. There will be DJNil’s live music, Easter Bunny and Easter Goodies for kids under 12 years. MKCA will also provide holy water in a plastic bottle to take home to every family attend this program. There will be a open bar with the courtesy of MKCA Executive Committee.

Admission is – Members those RSVP: Adults – $18, Children 12 years and under $12. Non-Members RSVP: Adults $20 and Children under 12 years $15. Kids 4 years old and under are free.

Austin Prabhu’s Book Motiyam Released

 Mangalore, February 10:  Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu’s book of short poems “Mothiyam” (chutkam) was released on February 10, 2008 at the Pastoral Institute Bajjodi, Mangalore.  President of Catholic Sabha central committee Mr. Lancy D’Cunha welcomed the gathering.  Mr. Victor Rodriguez famous Konkani novelist was present as guest of honor.

 

Motiyam Release

 

 Dr. Gerald Pinto introduced the author and the book to the audience.  He recalled the contribution of Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu in founding the Cathoilic Sabha as founder Vce President and his role in organizing the mammoth rally at the Nehur Maidan, Mangalore against Tyagi bill on April 1, 1979 where more than 60,000 people gathered from all over Dakshina Kannada.  He also introduced his social activities and appreciated his love for his mother tongue Konkani and Konkani Community.  He said that the book “Mothiyam” is very unique and it gives entertainment, knowledge and awareness to the reader and it can be used as quotations in the speeches.

 

The book was jointly released by Mr. Lancy D’Cunha, the President of Catholic Saba and Rev. Fr. Vincent Monteiro the director of Pastoral Institute.  Mr. Nigel Pereira, the secretary of Catholic Sabha proposed vote of thanks.  Members of Catholic Sabha Central Committee from all over Mangalore Diocese were present to witness this program.

 

The book contains more than 800 short poems and it is published by Dr. Jerry Niddodi through his publication ‘Divya Deepa’ and all the sale proceedings will go to the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor for Mentally Challenged and Hearing Impaired Children.
